This site is devoted to the serious Clivia enthusiast and we endeavour to breed Trend setting Clivias. We recognise new Trends in breeding Clivia and are dedicated to the breeding and development of such specimens and undertake to provide the best quality seed/seedlings and plants for sale to the serious enthusiast and hobbyist alike.

One such Trend in the cultivation of Clivia is to obtain the Best Variegated Yellow flowering form. The plant named “Goldrush” being a case in point of such a specimen. This plant has a superior variegated leaf and boasts a full head of large yellow flowers on a sturdy Umbel.

As seen on the accompanying photo, the berries of this plant already give an indication of the quality of variegation that can be expected.

“Di1” - Blood Red with Green Centre

One of the more recent Trends developing is the emergence of green and green centred flowers.

This plant is important to our breeding due to two factors, firstly the green centre and secondly the absence of yellow in the throat

The photo to the left depict a superior red with green centre called “Di1”.

“Charlsgreen” is at the forefront of development of true green flowers. As can be seen below this is indeed a special plant , and the breeding potential is phenomenal, as eluded to by Dr Harold Koopowitz in Clivia Yearbook 8. Note the absence of Yellow in the petals….the perfect prelude to pure white flowers???
Dr Koopowitz is of the opinion that because Charlsgreen lack yellow, by making sibling crosses, some of the resultant crosses will be even greener and some will lack the green and thus be whiter. By crossing these lighter varieties you would eventually end up with a pure white. The same goes for eventually obtaining clearer pinks. We have embargoed on this cumbersome path, and will make some of these prized and Trend Setting seeds available from time to time.
